FLY Girls are the future leaders that seeks to improve our community through the beautification of our school campus. To align with the GuildBuild environmental challenge, we propose initiating a gardening campaign across campus to not only encourage school community involvement but also to increase mental health awareness thru the grounding of nature. Beautifying the our school and piloting a plant "daycare" program in the classroom to build community, provide psychoeducation about mental health & nature, and build responsibility within the classroom.
Project need
Given the emotional impact COVID-19 had on students, we believe that this gardening campaign can improve many aspects of the students’ mental health including mood, concentration, self-esteem, and social bonds. Students have come back to school with difficulty adjusting to socialization and the proposed Plant “Daycare” classroom pilot has the intention to bring back connection between classmates while building good mental health.
