Our second project was to bring our annual Kindness week for our school themed after Mean Girls movie. During this week we hold different events to promote empathy, bring education on the importance of being aware of our actions, engaging in random act of kindness and to create a friendly school environment where students of all races, ethnicities feel welcome.
We started our week with a big Kindness week Kickoff celebration by "Picketting for kindness." The FLY Girls held uplifting signs promoting random acts of kindness. We tabled at Lunch with different activities such as a "Positive ways to engage in Self care" where students could grab a positive note on who to give themselves self-love. We had a "No one eats alone" lunch and encourage students to eat with students who are eating alone and socialize.

Our final project consisted of hosting a game night "FLY Around the World Game Series." We researched a couple of different games played around the world that could be transformed into virtual games. We Created a flyer and promoted it thru Schoology and word of mouth as well. Before we would start the game, we provided a history on the game and cultural significance. We then proceeded to educating our peers and school staff about the rules of the game. We used programs such as Nearpod and virtual cards to play the games.

REFLECTIONS:
It was challenging to get the project going as we had all new members and we were mostly all 6th graders. Many of us are really reserved and shy and we had a hard time getting volunteers to get active on the project outreach and take initiative. We manage to get a couple FLY girls to start working on loosing their shyness and work thru public speaking fears. Slowly FLY girls started feeling comfortable taking leadership roles.
One thing that we could of done differently is having better time management and be able to invest more time in the small details of every project. It was surprising to see how many of the FLY Girls who weren't in leadership roles, took those roles during quarantine and we were able to invest the time needed to plan for our game night.
