Welcome to our page! This year, the FLY girls are entering their 7th year of work as change agents at Southeast Middle School and are excited to celebrate the Girls Build LA's 10th year anniversary!!! Special thank you to the Girls Build LA organization and the sponsors that support GBLA that have allowed us the opportunity to do this work every year!! We are excited to begin our project this year and thank you for joining us in our journey of change and making a positive impact in our school community. Please check back here for updates on this year's project and feel free to look back at our work from previous years.
This year's project began at our Girls Build retreat day at SoLa Tech center where we were fortunate to learn from the best to take back to our schools to begin our plan.
2024/2025 MISSION STATEMENT
To mobilize families, students and the community to take a more active role on their healthy eating patterns, physical health and emotional well being. The overall mission for the F.L.Y. girls is to promote our community and students for a healthier and longer and more prosperous life to improve people's mental and physical health. Mental health affects your emotions and behavior. For example, stress, fear, anxiety, anger, depression, and worry are all negative emotions that may affect your physical health as well. Reducing these negative emotions can make us more motivated in our daily lives. Overall, our mission is to bring awareness to our school community about the food they eat.
