It was a magical week at SEMS.....🤩✨
This year the FLY girls kicked off our holiday break🎄 and sent students off spreading joy through the use of music 🎼 throughout the school to students and staff. Staff and students enjoyed singing grams sent from teacher to teacher and delivered by our FLY girls. By the end of the school day, our school community was feeling the holiday spirit!! ❤️
This year has brought on many challenges, but the FLY girls continue to work on rebuilding our school community by hosting and facilitating activities to engage students, build healthy skills, keep our campus green, by building a sense of positive responsibility to our campus and community.
We believe that if students feels connected and have a sense of responsibility to their campus and staff, the school culture will make a positive change. We started the year by hosting club rush week and support throughout the year, and will continue by hosting monthly campaigns, resource fairs, fun activities and ending the year with our Mental Health Talent show.
Below are this year's past activities.
November: Dia de Muertos Open Mic Event and Thanksgiving grams
The FLY Girl's Dia de Muertos and Open Mic event gave students the opportunity to honor their loved and support those of us left behind as a community.
October: CLUB RUSH
The FLY girls hosted our school's first student-led clubs. We believe clubs are ways for students to meet other students, share their hobbies, learn from others, interact with teachers and engage with eachother as a school community. What a better way to get to know others and unite both schools than to share a bit about yourself with others. With the guidance and support from the FLY girls, Club Presidents created poster boards to recruit members during CLUB RUSH. Students came out and learned about each club, had the opportunity to sign up and join clubs, and meet club Presidents. Our clubs continue to hold strong with more and more students joining different clubs offered on campus.
Things that bring FLY Girls joy
To maintain a good mental health, the FLY girls recommend finding joy in the most simple things. Here are three examples of what brings the FLY girls joy.
